The Fire of Freedom:

The Story of Abraham Galloway

Presented June 28th, June 30th, July 1st, and July 2nd

A Mike Wiley Production

The Town of Garner and the Garner Juneteenth Committee are proud to present streamed, pre-recorded performances of Mike Wiley’s “The Fire of Freedom,” the story of the young enslaved rebel, radical abolitionist and Union spy Abraham Galloway.

This riveting portrait, based on the book of the same name by David Cecelski and adapted by playwright Howard Craft, illuminates Galloway’s life and deepens our insight into the Civil War and Reconstruction as experienced by African Americans in North Carolina.

We hope you can join us for a stream of this powerful one-person show by Mike Wiley, one of the Triangle's most acclaimed artists.

Mike will join us for a live talkback Q&A following the stream on Wednesday, June 30.
